Update Archive (3)

(Feb. 2008 - Jan. 2009)

January 31, 2009

Well, it's a full month into the new year, and I'm just now getting around to posting an update.  (Although, in a shameless plug for the newsletter, those folks have been kept up-to-date on what's been happening 'behind the scenes' as it were.)

HOWEVER...I am going to attempt to post something at least once a month...just to let you know what's going on.  For the moment, I'm working on the next story for the Destiny's Child series.  It will be the final story in the "Eye of the Beholder" 'mini-series'.  The next couple of stories after that should be fun to write, and I hope, fun for you to read.  Looking forward to a little levity after all that Daniel, Casey and SG-1 have been through.

The SFA's have posted that they're working on going through the nominations, 1891 were made this year.  As soon as the nominees have been notified, and have placed their nominations in the correct categories/subcategories, the team will then decide what the final categories/subcategories will be.   As soon as there's word about the voting, I'll be certain to let you know!

Many thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for taking the journey with me...it just blows me away that so many of you enjoy the offerings of the Muse and myself.  THANK YOU!

December 31, 2008

Happy New Year!

to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!  Thank you for making 2008 such a wonderful, successful year for TCO, myself, Renée, and Lisa.  Here's wishing all of you the very best in the coming year.

December 24, 2008

Just a little note to let you know that "Leather, Feathers, and Garters" is up and ready for your holiday enjoyment!  This is a PWP, but there are a few hints about what is to come for Daniel, Casey, and SG-1.

The SFA's are taking nominations until the 31st of December...so if you have a favorite author or artist in the Stargate fandom, now is the time to show your appreciation!  I'll put an update on the page when the voting opens, as well.

Daniel, Casey, Jack, Sam, Teal'c, Dr. Fraiser, Gen. Hammond, and all the others wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas...

And we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

December 21, 2008

Merry Christmas!

It just doesn't seem possible that it's Christmas time again!  But...it is.  Time for good wishes, lots of joy, and hope for Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Man.  So no matter how you celebrate the season, whether it's Winter Solstice, or Hanukkah, or Christmas, may the season be one of happiness.  Warmest wishes to all of my readers...may you and your loved ones enjoy a blessed Holiday Season.

October 25, 2008

Well, it's been awhile since I last updated...apologies for that!  (But, in a plug for the weekly newsletter...those folks have been kept up-to-date on what's been going on with Renée, Lisa and myself!)  I have good news for you..."What the Eye Beholds, the Heart Denies" is ready for your perusal.  I'm not going to give anything away about this story.  I will say this however...start at the beginning.  Follow it through...and trust me!

No new word from the SFA's.  *sigh*

And I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to thank the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all your your continued support and encouragement...it means the world to me!

September 16, 2008

Hello!  Yep...have good news!  "The Simple Necessities of Life" has been postedl!  I was beginning to think RL was never going to let me finish that story!  (Have to admit, I'm loving the new windows, though!)

There has also been movement noticed on the Stargate Fan Awards website...apparently they do have plans to open the program this year.  I could say something about them only having about three months left in which to accomplish that, but I won't...*big grin*  We'll see how it goes this year.  I wish them the best of luck, and hopefully the gremlins that caused so much trouble last year have been dealt with.

There's a new voting button on the home page for those of you who vote for TCO (and THANK YOU so very much for that awesome support!!  I appreciate it so very much!)  The site is seeing new readers coming in, and that's what it's all about!  So to those of you who might be new to the TCO universe...WELCOME!  I hope you enjoy the journey!

And, as always, a huge thank you to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for making TCO the success that it is!

August 31, 2008

Hello, hello! Just wanted to let you know that work on the next story is going well, although RL seems to be interfering at every opportunity. Nothing serious happening, just busy with all of those summer projects!  With luck, it should be up sometime around the middle of September...you know me, I will not post a story before its time! Because you, my faithful friends and readers, deserve the very best I can offer!

Also wanted to let you know about the 'missing' voting banner on the home page. There have been issues with it, and it's just become more hassle than it's actually worth, going by the stats. There aren't enough 'new' hits coming in from there to warrant spending time and effort on it...so, even though TCO was #1 (thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD), I have decided to just let it go. I will continue to vote for my favorites over there, and I hope you will as well.

Also, there are a few new links on the Link's page, and while there are a couple that aren't going to be interested in having a link to a simple fan fiction site, I think they're interesting enough to post.  I hope you'll check them out!

August 19, 2008

Hello, hello! Well, imagine my surprise when I received an email from the Skiffy Awards team, alerting me that voting for the second round of the awards had opened...and when I went over to take a peek, ready to do some reading and voting, lo and behold, one of my stories has been nominated. I'm assuming that since I NEVER received a notification of this fact, that none of the other round two nominees did either? I had held off on mailing/posting this (yes, I'm posting this on the Update page as well as sending it out in the newsletter...) until I had heard back, hoping that the entire situation would be taken care of before now. However...

I have to be honest here, I'm a bit peeved about this. While I'm tickled that someone would think enough of "Whispers From the Past" to nominate the story, I had already decided that I had no interest in participating in round two of this award program. Something I could have addressed...HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED! Nor was I thrilled to see my full name used, as I go by "Robin K." in my writing. (I know, I have my full name on the intro page...but the site is called "Robin K. Presents: The Chosen One"...bit of a clue there, perhaps?) Again, something I would have addressed...HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED!

I did send an email to Techie, as soon as I was aware of the situation, asking if it's possible to be removed from the list...although I'm guessing that at this stage of the game, she's not going to want to do that. It's rather annoying to know that all of this could have been avoided...HAD I BEEN NOTIFIED! (To tell you the truth, I really don't care if it is an inconvenience or whatever to have the story pulled now...not my fault I was NEVER NOTIFIED of the nomination!!!)

When...or IF...I ever hear from Techie, I'll be certain to let you know what's going on. For now, there are some great stories over there...so go forth and read, my friends!! And if my story remains on the ballot...well...I suppose there won't be anything I can do about that. Let's just hope that in the third round, nominees will be notified, so that this type of annoyance can be avoided!!

It's a sad state of affairs my friends...it seems that there isn't a decent, dependable awards program to be found for the Stargate fandom. *sigh*

August 11, 2008

Hello, hello!  Decided I should probably post something so that you don't think I've fallen off the face of the planet! *grin*  One of the first things I need to do is to let you know that all of the Destiny's Child stories now have their banners...and they are awesome!  Eventually our Resident Artist will have time to work on the stories for The Chosen One.  (Mailing list members will know about any site updates as soon as they occur...them's the perks, baby!)

Right now I'm working on the next story for DC...and the Muse has dropped notes, ideas, scenes, dialogue and other miscellaneous goodies on me for the next four stories.  So writing is going well!

That's really all I have for now...as always, THANK YOU for all of the incredible support that you give to Renée, Lisa and I...we appreciate it so very much!  You're the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

July 5, 2008

On July 1st, the Skiffy winners were announced.  Yes, folks, thanks to you, the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD, the authors of TCO managed to snag a few of those winner badges!  For the complete list of winning stories, and where they placed, please check out the Awards Page.  We're so excited, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this wonderful experience!

Also, our Resident Artist has been very busy, and all the stories from "Christmas, Malls and Jaffa" to "Seek and Ye Shall Find"  now have awesome new banners.  If you like the work, please let me know so I can send the kudos on to our R.A.

(Remember, if the banner doesn't 'show up' when you first click on the intro page, click on 'refresh'.)

June 30, 2008

By now, most of the members of the Stargate community are aware that we lost Don S. Davis, who played General George Hammond.  According to reports, he had a massive heart attack on Sunday, June 29th.  Mr. Davis was a talented actor, and although I thoroughly loved him as General Hammond, I think my favorite role was when he played Annette Funicello's husband, Glen, in the movie "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes: The Annette Funicello Story".  I learned later through friends who met Mr. Davis that his tender portrayal of Annette's husband was exactly the way he was in real life, with his own wife, the love of his life, Ruby.

Renée, Lisa and I extend our condolences to the family, and wish Don peace on his journey to the next level.

For the rest of us, we'll be able to keep our memories of the actor, and the wonderful character of General Hammond, in our hearts.

June 30, 2008

As promised, here's a list of the stories that have the new banners on the introduction pages.  Our Resident Artist, Yak, is working 'backwards' on my stories, doing the newest first.  I know you'll enjoy these as much as Renée, Lisa and I are!  They're totally awesome!  If you'd like to send kudos to Yak for her work, just email me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to send your kind words on!

Okay, here we go!  Stories with the new banners are:

All of Lisa's Stories

All of Renée's Stories

Destiny's Child Stories:

Whispers From the Past
Artistic Differences
The Devil In the Details
There's a New God In Town
Daddy's Little Girl
The Colonel's New Toys
Parallel-o-gram
Desperate Acts
Strange Bedfellows
Know Thyself

As always, I'd like to thank the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of the support you offer...it's that support, those emails full of kind and encouraging words that keep us posting!

(If the banner doesn't show up, refresh the page...works every time! *grin*)

June 28, 2008

Finally, "Whispers From the Past" is ready!  I was beginning to think the Muse would never let me write 'The End'!  But, as always, she knew exactly what she was doing!  Certainly hope you enjoy this latest tale for the Destiny's Child universe!

This tale has crossover scenes with Renee's universe, and is thus 'tied' to her story "The Past Came A'Whispering".  Yep, we DID work on the titles together!  The two stories are very different, hers is upbeat and light, mine...well, not so much.  It's interesting to note that the crossover scenes, while nearly identical (the dialogue is the same, word for word), the 'feel' of the scenes are different for each story.  Have we got great Muses, or what?

Oh, and I'd like to point out that you'll find something 'new' on the introduction pages of these stories.  Our resident artist has taken on the challenge of 'updating' the introduction pages of all the stories on the site.  All of Renée's intro pages have been updated, as well as TCO's "Blonde, Redhead and Archaeologist(s)".  If you don't see anything 'new', refresh the page, and the new 'banner' will show up.  I'll do an update to let you know which stories have the new banners as they're uploaded.

And I would be remiss in not taking the opportunity to thank the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD...it's you who keep us posting these stories!  It's you who have helped make this simple little fan fiction site a complete success!  It's a partnership, really, I write 'em, and you read 'em.  Works rather well, doesn't it?  *grin*

June 19, 2008

Yep, I know...it's about time I post an update, eh?  Well, it seems that the Muse is finally satisfied with what we've accomplished in the newest story for Destiny's Child.  Sooo...now begins the process of editing and polishing, and then sending it to Renée for that all-important beta reading.  With luck, I hope to have the story ready to post some time next week.  Mailing list members will, of course, get the exact day and time that will happen in advance of the upload.

Just a quick reminder that voting for the Skiffy Awards ends soon...so if you haven't made it over there yet, be sure to do so.

As always, I want to thank the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of your support...it means so very much to me...gives me warm fuzzies to know that you're taking the journey along with Daniel, Casey and the rest of the team!

May 23, 2008

After much thought and discussion, Renee and I have decided to remove the banners for the Blue Moon Awards that had appeared on the Awards page of this site.

When the awards first opened, we felt that they represented the bringing together of the best of Stargate fan fiction and fan art. We were excited to be a part of the Blue Moon Awards first year, and thrilled to win.

The awards were not open during 2007, and when they re-opened in 2008, the rules had changed to allow certain adult themes that we are not completely comfortable with. It is our belief that the Blue Moon Awards now seek the ‘fringe’ of the Stargate fandom, stories that do not hold true to the moral values of the show, nor the characters. While we agree that everyone has the right to read, or create, whatever he or she might desire, it doesn’t mean that we wish to have our work included in such a collection.

As such, the banners and links have been removed. If the BMA awards team feels the need to remove the links to our winning stories, we have no objections.

Also, while I greatly appreciate that someone nominated one of my stories for a Blue Moon Award, I declined the nomination for the same reason as the banners and links were removed.  Thank you for your kind gesture!

On a more 'personal note', work is going well on the next story for Destiny's Child.  It will feature a bit of 'crossover' with Renee's universe, although it will only be a scene or two.  We're having fun with the writing of the stories, we hope you'll enjoy them as well.

And as always, thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of your continued support!

May 19, 2008

Strike up the band!  Yep, after a few glitches, dealing with RW, and then reworking some continuity issues that crept up, I'm pleased to announce that "Artistic Differences" is now ready for your perusal!  Thanks to the incredible beta job by Renee, the story is finally ready for you...and I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!

As always, thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for the support you give, it means the world to me, and it's what keeps me posting the stories that the Muse and the characters continue to whisper in my ear!

Okay, NOW the new Guestbook works!  It was working just fine the night I put it up, don't know WHAT happened, but apparently Spike, that rotten little Gremlin, decided to play around somewhere!  So, if you signed the old Guestbook, and would like to send a hello in the new one...it works!  *grin*

Thanks for your patience, and for all the support and warm fuzzies you send my way!  You're the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

(Katie...thanks for the heads up about the Guestbook...you can sign it now!)

Skiffy Award Nominee List

May 3, 2008

Just wanted to let you know that the Skiffy's have extended their nomination date until May 5th.  If you'd like a 'sneak peek' at the nominations so far, go here.  I'm thrilled to see that Renée, Lisa and I have all been nominated, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!  There are still several 'empty' categories, so go forth and find stories to fit those categories, and nominate them!  And good luck to the nominees.  I'll let you know as soon as voting opens.

Still no word on the SFA's...and I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever hear anything.  *sigh*

I'm working on the last chapter of the next story in the Destiny's Child series, and with luck, it will be posted soon.  I was hoping for a Mother's Day upload, but we'll have to see how it goes.  So far, the story hasn't gone exactly as planned.  In fact, it's quite different from what *I* had planned.  Silly me, I forgot to take into consideration what the Muse had planned.  *grin*  But know that I'm working on it, and it will be up...soon.  I suppose it would help if I'd stop messing with the notes for the next story...

As always, I want to thank the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of your support.  It gives me serious warm fuzzies!

May 1, 2008

Here I go again...not posting for weeks, then an update every day...*grin*  The newsletter has been 'repaired', and I'll admit I never even knew it was 'broken'.  Silly me, expecting a service to operate as promised.  Anyway, I think I have all of the glitches taken care of, so if you tried to sign up for the letter, and became frustrated, please try again!  It works now...honest!  For all of you who have signed up...THANKS!

To the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD...thanks for your support!

April 30, 2008

Just wanted to call your attention to the 'new' Guest Book (the link is on the main page).  After the 'new and improved' Bravenet guestbook, which was a royal pain in the southern hemisphere to deal with, I found a new book to use, and have added the link to it.  I'm hoping to be able to 'retrieve' all of the entries from Bravenet, but I'm not holding out any hope.  So, if you'd like to check out the new book, please do so, and if you've left any entries in the past few days, could you possibly 're-enter' them into the new book?  Hopefully this will be a bit more user-friendly...for all of us!  If you've left entries in the past, and would like for them to be a part of the new book, please feel free to 'sign again'!

In other news...no word from the SFA's...*sigh*  Skiffy Awards will be accepting nominations until May 1st, extending their deadline just a bit, so there are still a few hours to run over and nominate those favorite Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Dr. Who, Torchwood or Supernatural stories!

As always, I appreciate all of the support from the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

April 3, 2008

WOOHOO!  200,000 page views!  Yep, TCO went over that milestone marker today, and the new banner is up in recognition of the event.  We're thrilled that this little fan fiction site has found such favor among Stargate fans!  It seems that offering some of the very best Stargate SG-1 fan fiction available is paying off...*grin*.  It's thanks to readers like YOU that this 'celebration' is possible.

Even though we're about a month and a half into it, what a great way to 'start' the third year for TCO!

So, THANK YOU from the very bottom of my heart!  I get serious warm fuzzies every time I see new readers coming in (which is a daily occurrence now), and all of you returning again and again to take the journey with the characters.  You're the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

(Oh...and still waiting on word from the SFA's...)

March 28, 2008

Yep, you know me...I don't post anything for weeks, and then I just don't shut up...*grin*  Did a bit of tweaking last night, so that the Contact Information Page is more 'up-to-date', and there are links on each of our 'corner' intro pages, to make it easy for you to send that encouraging email!  Also added a new piece of 'eye candy' to the home page...for your enjoyment! *grin*

Still waiting to hear about the Stargate Fan Awards...I'm certain that we'll see that winner's list soon.

In other unrelated news, the staff of the Blue Moon Awards have announced that they are accepting nominations.  For all pertinent information, go here.

And as always, thank you, thank you, thank you to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for the incredible support!

March 27, 2008

In case you're wondering, I've moved last years updates to a new archive page.  If you'd like to peruse the first year of updates, you can click on the Archive button on my intro page, or go here.  The second year of updates are available through the main archive page, or you can click here.

As always, my sincerest and most heartfelt thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for making TCO the success that it is.  I am totally blown away by the goodwill, friendship and support that continues to flow my way.

March 21, 2008

Just wanted to let you know that the Skiffy Awards are open for nominations.  There are several fandoms represented this year: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Torchwood, Dr. Who and Supernatural.  So if you read in any of these fandoms (obviously if you're reading this, you read Stargate SG-1 fan fiction...*grin*), and you have favorites you'd like to see nominated for a Skiffy, head on over to the Skiffy Awards and start nominating.  You can do so until April 15th.  (I'm a bit slow in getting the announcement up, my apologies!)  The rules are simple, as is the nominating process. So go forth and nominate your favorites!

As always, my thanks and appreciation to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of your support, it means the world to me!

And for those who celebrate it, HAPPY EASTER!  May the Easter Bunny smother you with chocolate! *grin*

March 16, 2008

Strike up the band, the newest story for the Destiny's Child series has been finished and uploaded!  "The Devil In the Details" if finally finished.  After all of the research.  And more research.  And more research.  And then, yes, more research!  *grin*  This story brings Earth, the First World, to within minutes of Goa'uld conquest.  SG-1 saves the day...of course...but at what cost?

For those who might be interested, a weekly newsletter goes out keeping those folks up-to-date on what's going on with me, Renée and Lisa.  So if you're interested at all, just click on the link in the welcome paragraph above.

Also, wanted to point out the new link, to Stargate Oblivion, which is a terrific site, and is home to a very active role-playing game.  I apologize to the folks at SGO for taking so long to realize the banner was ready to be placed on the link page!  If you like role-playing games, you've got to check out this incredible site.  Even if you're like me, and have never participated in an RPG, take a look...they don't mind lurkers! *grin*

As always, a great big THANK YOU goes out to all of the wonderful people who come in, settle back, and take the journey with us.  You're the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD!

February 22, 2008

Happy BIrthday, TCO!

Wow!  Two years!  A new look, a new year, and more great stories to come!  I know there are those who didn't think that this little fan fiction site would ever amount to much.  There are those who never believed it would be as popular as it is.  But TCO has found favor with many Stargate fans, because the stories on this site reflect the love and respect that we have for the show, and the characters.  We've been nominated for several awards, won a few, and continue to grow, both in content, and the number of readers who come in daily.  I look forward to another exciting, fun-filled year, working with the Muse and the gang to bring you more paths to follow on that Journey through the Stargate Universe.

Thanks to the GREATEST READERS IN THE WORLD for all of your wonderful support.  TCO wouldn't be where it is today without you!

(The 'missing' mini-series, "Needles in Haystacks", has been located, and returned to the Destiny's Child story list...thanks Thraesja!!)
