Hello. It's with a sad heart that I write here today. I was lucky enough to have met Mr Davis last year in Vancouver. He is...I guess, I should say was, a truly delightful soul. A true Gentlemen in every sense of the word with a wicked sense of humor, he would talk to anyone and everyone, and was as eager to hear 'stories' as much as tell them. He had such a wonderful way of speaking that turned even an 'everyday' event into an adventure, whether it be a rambling stroll or getting up to mischief. And when he spoke of his wife, Ruby, it was very clear just how much he loved her. His 'heart of gold' charm that he let shine through, turned his portrayal of General Hammond into a much beloved character, that very much added to the magic of SG-1. So, to quote the General, Good Luck and Godspeed, Don, on this new journey you have gone on. You will be sorely missed.

June 28, 2008

Well, let me say that 'The Past Came A'Whispering' was soooo much fun to write, and a lot of that can be attributed to working with Robin again! We may have only had a few scenes in which our two realities merge, but we had a total blast writing them! Our two stories are very different tales. Robin's is more of a drama...mine is (except for the first chapter) very much a lighthearted tale of mischief. I figured after the angst of 'Changes' a bit of levity was sorely needed. 'The Past Came A'Whispering' and 'Whispers From The Past' (don't ya' love the 'matching' titles?!) are designed to be read 'together'...I don't suppose it matters which one you read first, guess it depends on your mood!

When the title of this story came to me, I thought it was just a nice little play on words to link it to Robin's...silly me! Turns out the Muse had other ideas which she informed me by way of the poem at the beginning of the story, that she whispered to me at the ungodly hour of 3:30am one morning. Suffice to say, this tale is a whisper of what is to come as well as of the past, whether it be the future fight against the Goa'uld, sneaky plots of Kinsey or surprising romantic entanglements.

I think that's all the little thoughts I have to share, so without further ado, I shall let you go a'reading!

(If you've come to this page from the Awards Page, this is the relevant update.)

G-day Everybody!

It's taken a bit of time, but I have come to a decision. A little while back I received an email telling me that I had been nominated for a Blue Moon Award. I'd like to thank the person who nominated me, for enjoying one of my stories so much that they would take the time and effort to nominate it. Having already won a BMA, I was quite excited at the prospect. That is, until I went to the awards site to check out if anything had changed in the rules and categories etc. I was horrified to see that the awards openly encourage incest. No, I'm not a prude, or one of those bible bashing religious fanatics who consider anything but the missionary position as an immoral act, (with Daniel & Annika's love scenes, how could I? <grin>) However there are some lines that should not be crossed...I mean come on people, there is a reason incest is illegal! Beside my own personal abhorrence to the topic, I also found it disgusting that the staff of the BMAs would even consider incest as an acceptable story theme for the TV series they are trying to honor. The SG-1 characters (and the Atlantis ones for that matter,) are moral citizens (Goa'uld & other badies aside!), regardless of what planet they originate from...yes, they are just fictional characters, yet a series doesn't run for 10 years with a spin off series going on 5 years, without a core set of decent principles endearing them into the hearts of fans. Guess what? Condoning or participating in Incest isn't one of those principles, go figure? For those of you who disagree, well, that's your right. If you want to interpret the characters that way, that's your call. Just as it is my right to not want to be associated with an awards program that is the total antithesis of my morals and that (I believe) of SG-1 & SGA. To that end I have refused the nomination to the BMAs, and told them my reasons for doing so. I have also discussed it with Robin K, and she agrees that we will remove the BMA that was won for 'The Blonde, the Redhead & the Archaeologist(s)'. While when that award was given, there was no encouragement of incest specifically, the new encouraged themes have tarnished what having that award meant, and I do not want my work sullied by association. I would rather have no awards at all, than to have one such as that. Robin K will also be removing her BMAs for her 'Destiny's Child' series, for the same reasons as myself.

On a much more pleasant note, my next story is coming along very well! I intended this one to be very lighthearted in comparison to the angst that started with 'Steps Back in Time' and ended in 'Changes', however the Muse has decreed that there be some seriousness. But overall it will be just a bit of fun with SG-1 running amok in the SGC. And I'm very excited about the prospect of working with Robin K again to merge our universes. Say what? I hear you exclaim? Oh, did I forget to mention that it will be a partial crossover? It'll be very different to our previous collaboration. They will be completely different story lines with only a few scenes of our universes entwining with each other, but it's already turning into a lot of fun! (For Robin & me, that is!) Anyway that's me up-to-date for now. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello everybody! Well, my computer upgrade is complete and I'm back in business...well, sort of. For the foreseeable future my normal email addy is still out of action. So I have decided to swap it over permanently to my 'universal' email addy so that I can access any little notes that are directed my way from any computer at any time. The new addy is already up on the contacts page, and I hope to hear from you soon!

April 27, 2008

Due to a total overhaul of the SGC computer, I will be out of contact for an indefinite amount of time. Sam, Siler & Thor are currently working on the upgrades and hopefully will have it up and running soon. If anyone would like to contact me, you can email Robin and she will be able to forward on messages to me. Sorry, I know it's a pain in the proverbial butt, but it’s unavoidable."

April 24, 2008

Hello! Well, finally the next installment of my tales is done and ready for you to read! I know it’s been a looooooong time in coming, and I thank you for your patience and those of you who emailed me with words of encouragement! (You have no idea how much you helped!)

So with no further ado, I’ll leave you to peruse 'Changes' at your leisure!

April 19th, 2008

G-day! This will be the shortest update ever… ‘Feathers & Lace’ is now uploaded! Just a friendly warning, I’ve been told that you may need access to a cold shower after you finish chapters 1 & 2 or have your respective partner on standby. Enjoy!

April 12, 2008

Hello, hello, hello! This update is coming live from The Chosen One's Headquarters! I've been having a fabulous time catching up with Robin and playing tourist, however I have managed to get in some writing time in between all the chatter. My stories are now thankfully at the beta stage, so now it is only a matter of days before the first will be uploaded. These two tales I've decided to link together into a 'mini-series' called 'Daedal Lineage' since the recurring theme is focused around family. Okay, so what can I say about these two tales? The first, ‘Feathers & Lace’, is probably as close to a Plot-What-Plot as I will ever get, (well, the first half is). It’s basically Daniel and Annika’s honeymoon, so need I say more? Well…actually, yes…It is the lead in for the second and massively longer tale, ‘Changes’. Now, ‘Changes’, as I mentioned in an earlier update, all started with a very innocent question of ‘I wonder what would have happened if…‘this event’ never happened'. Little did I know that it would turn into the longest story I have ever written! I admit that it is a bit angsty, though no where near as 'bad' as 'Steps Back in Time' (Yes, I hear your sighs of relief!). Did a little experimenting with both stories, by titling the individual chapters. I’d be interested to know your thoughts if this was a good idea or not, and of course your opinion on the stories themselves is always very much welcome. But I'm getting a little ahead of myself. In about a week's time 'Feathers & Lace' will be ready, followed by 'Changes' after a couple of days.

Totally off-track, in being away from my computer for over a week, I have discovered that my 'mailbox' is full. I can only presume that it is full of all those 'wonderful' ads enticing me to buy their magic little pills that will increase my stamina and enlarge an appendage that I do not have. So, if you have emailed me since the 1st April and it has bounced back, then I humbly apologize. I'll be back Down Under on the 16th, and I assure you that I will be cleaning out that mailbox first thing.

Okay, well, that's me just about all caught up. My next update will be to let you know the precise day 'Feathers & Lace' will be ready for you to read!

February 2, 2008

G-day Everyone! Just a quick update…(see, I’m sticking to New Year’s resolution not to be so slack in my updates!) I hope you’re all enjoying the new look of the site. Robin, Lisa and I had sooooo much fun playing around with the designs!

My latest tales are kicking along nicely…still no idea when they will be finished but there has been significant progress! Have come up with a possible title for the longer second story. At the moment it’s called ‘Changes’. Nice and simple, don’t you think? Which is kinda ironic given that nothing about time travel is nice and simple…at least it’s not to me. (Next time I even think the words ‘time travel’ I have given Robin permission to zat’ me!)

Oh, and finally, earlier today we found a minor link error with a tale written a while ago, ‘The Blonde, the Redhead and the Archaeologist(s)’. Those of you who have read it, will know that it was a collaboration story with Robin where the tale is the same in both our corners, except for chapter 10. It seems that using the ‘next’ button on the bottom of my pages to progress to the next chapter diverted to Robin’s version of the story…so people were missing out on the different chapter 10 which ‘concluded’ the adventure for Daniel and Annika. So if you’re interested, the link had now been fixed.

Well, thanks for tuning in! Hopefully the next update I give will be to announce that my next adventure will be ready to post! (Fingers crossed anyway!)

BREAKING NEWS FROM AROUND THE TOK’RA WATER COOLER!

The Stargate Fan-Fiction Awards are now open for your perusal. So if you feel so inclined after a hard day of fighting off the Goa’uld, Ori or even worse, Kinsey, why not kick back and check out the stories and multi-media sites that have been nominated.

December 23, 2007

Hello Everybody! Bet you thought I’d dropped off the face of the Earth, didn’t you? Truth is, I didn’t realize just how much time had passed since I gave an update until a faithful reader brought it to my attention! Time certainly does have a way of slipping by, doesn’t it? It’s been a hectic couple of months…the first part was swallowed up very pleasurably by a trip to New York and a Stargate convention, and then not so pleasurably the madness that is the world of retail pre-Christmas, has dug into my writing time.

However, I have managed to make a solid start on a tale. The first six chapters are under my belt, although that may not mean much considering I have no idea how long the story will end up being. I will give you a bit of a hint….it involves time travel. It is based around the musing of "What if ‘this’ never happened?"… (and, nope, I’m not going to give away what ‘this’ is!) I’m sorry to say that I have no clue as to when this as yet untitled story will be finished, but on the bright side I can guarantee that there will be 2 stories in quick succession when I do get my butt into gear and write. The first story (that I haven’t written a word for yet!) will be short and will act as a lead in to the longer second one.

So, that’s me basically up-to-date for now. I’d like to make a special thank you to people who have taken the time to give me feedback, it’s always wonderful to hear your opinions and to find out what you enjoyed (or didn’t enjoy) about my tales.

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas or if you do not celebrate that particular religious event, then a Happy Day in general.

Sept. 14, 2007

Well, ‘Popcorn Doesn’t Lie’ is now finished! It has been a bit of an adventure doing this particular story arc, (not that I ever intended to drag out the spy issue out this long, but the Muse had other ideas!) A mix of highs and lows with quite a few twists and turns, that have been so much fun to write. I have to say a big thank you to Robin, who in beta-ing my tale picked up on those Aussie-American cultural differences. (Who knew that our ‘languages’ were so different???) So, ‘Ta’ Robin! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the tale!

Note from Robin: You're welcome, my friend! Have to love those differences. I'll teach you to say 'cookie' yet! * big grin *

Sept. 2, 2007

G-day Everybody! Just dropping a line to give you an update on how things are going. Firstly, ‘Popcorn Doesn’t Lie’ is almost finished. Fingers crossed that it will only be another couple of weeks and it will be up and running. It’s quite a bit lighter than ‘Steps Back In Time’, (yes, I hear your sigh of relief about that!) though there are a few tense moments as the team draw closer to discovering who the spy is.

The next item on my agenda is to thank all of you who nominated my and Robin's humble tales for the SFAs. It was a wonderful and jaw dropping surprise to have not just one, but all of my stories nominated. So THANK YOU!

And lastly, on a personal note, I know that it’s not universally Father’s Day today, but it is in my little corner of the world. So, to all the men who are Dads, those who are yet to be Dads, and the Dads that are no longer with us except in spirit living within our hearts, I wish you all a very Happy Father's Day.

July 5, 2007

G-day All! I’ve noticed that there are a few of you who have been faithfully hitting my update page, so I thought I should…well…um…update you! My next story, ‘Popcorn Doesn’t Lie’, is well underway. I have no idea when it will be finished, nor how long the story itself will be…Yeah, yeah, I know, can I be any more vague? I had planned on it being quite short, but it seems that the Muse has other ideas. On the upside, I can guarantee that there will be a resolution to that nasty snitch issue. Whether it’s a good result or a bad one remains to be seen. Side note: the identity of the spy came as a jaw dropping surprise to me, I’d be interested to know your opinion when it is finally posted.

Speaking of opinions, from the feedback I’ve received regarding ‘Steps Back in Time’…it seems that there are some who found the first four chapters too…er…taxing on the emotions to continue on with the Epilogue. Can I just say to all those that I sent running for the tissue box cursing my name for writing such a thing, to please read it…it ‘fixes’ everything!

Well, that’s about it for now. I shall try, (just try mind you, I tend to follow the same clock as our favourite archaeologist so time has a habit of getting away from me!) not to be such a slack arse with future updates!

May 5, 2007

Hmmm…what should I say about ‘Steps Back in Time’? First off I humbly apologize for the subject matter. I don’t know where the idea morphed from considering that my previous stories have mostly been lighthearted with a bit of angst thrown in, rather than the other way around. This story while short, has been the hardest thing I have ever written, and I hope to God that the Muse does not ever drag me (kicking and screaming!) down this path again. However, having said that it has been a rewarding experience to write a piece of this nature. Parts of it may seem clichéd to some, and yet a lot of the character reactions I’ve incorporated, I have either experienced myself or witnessed first hand. All I can say, without meaning to sound trite (or too much like Jack,) death is a cliché. It’s heart wrenching, a kick to the stomach, numbing to the mind, and the pain experienced by those who survive the loss of a loved one cannot be fully understood by those who have been lucky enough not to experience it as yet…

Jeez, where did that come from? Sorry, didn’t mean to get all serious an maudlin on you! Well, I can’t say I hope you enjoy this story…although there are a few ‘bright’ moments thrown in…can I just say here’s the next installment of Daniel and Annika’s adventures for your perusal? Yep, I think I can…and will! I’d love to hear your thoughts about it when you’ve finished, the good, the bad and anything in between.

(Robin here:  If you'd like to be notified when Renee has a new story posted, sign up for the mailing list...the link is available in the intro to my update page.  That can be accessed from the Main Page...)

April 27, 2007

G-day all! Just thought I’d drop a line to keep you updated about a couple of things. First off, ‘Steps Back In Time’ will definitely be up on site by mid May. I know that I previously mentioned it may be finished by the end of April, but time kind of got away from me.

Second, it has been brought to my attention that some of you wonderful readers had nominated some of my and Robin’s stories for this year’s Isis Awards, yet for some mysterious reason they haven’t been added to the nominees list. I contacted the Isis moderators and this was the response I received…"The reason they aren't up is because whenever we tried to screen the fics, we kept getting a 404 error. Since we didn't have time to look for the fics we decided to just leave them out this year. We're sorry, we don't know why we kept getting an error, and we thought that it was the best thing for us to do under the crunch we ended up being in. So sorry". I know you find this ‘404 error’ as bizarre as I do. I mean, if the stats for The Chosen site is anything to go by, no one else seems to be having a problem gaining access to our tales, and the nominators obviously had no 404 errors showing up. Why don’t we put it down to a nasty, vindictive computer gremlin that for whatever reason chose to pick on The Chosen site? Psycho gremlins aside, I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to those of you who did take the time to nominate our tales. Being nominated…or rather almost nominated in this case…is greatly appreciated by me, and by Robin too. So THANK YOU!!!

April 5, 2007

G-day! Just a quick note to let you know that now that I have come off the high of my fantastic trip to Vancouver and visit with Robin, I have seriously started work on my next story. I’d like to say that it’ll be short and sweet…but the Muse has decided that only one of those adjectives will apply. When it’s up and running (fingers crossed that will be by the end of April,) you’ll see for yourself which one it is. *yeah, I know, I’m a tease <evil wicked grin>*

Thank you to everybody who has read ‘Interruptions of Inconvenience’, the response to this and all my stories is quite overwhelming to me, and I’d like you to know that your feedback is greatly appreciated. I’d especially like to thank those of you that have come back for a second or even third read of my tales…That people have read them once is fabulous, but to have enjoyed them enough to come back and relive the adventures of Daniel, Annika and SG-1...that is just totally mind blowing. THANK YOU!!!!!

March 6, 2007

G-day! For those of you who have been checking out my update page for a progress report, the wait is finally over! ‘Interruptions of Inconvenience’ is now up and running for your reading ‘convenience’! I had a lot of fun writing this one, even if I did get sidetracked, interrupted and blindsided by inconvenient outside forces. It was an interesting experience creating a ‘new’ team almost from scratch and incorporating ‘one off’ guest characters from the show into my Stargate world. Hope you enjoy this next installment of Daniel and Annika's adventures!

March 2, 2007

Well our scouts have informed us that Senator Kinsey was not successful in trying to shut down the Isis Awards. He only managed to delay them for a bit. According to the Intel, SG-1 with the help of that lovable rogue Maybourne (aka Hutch) managed to save the day and the Isis Awards are now accepting nominations. Be warned there is a new set of Commanders at the Isis helm, so please read the nomination rules carefully.

Jan. 12, 2007

G-day all! Just letting you know that my next story is kicking along nicely, although I had no idea that the title would become an analogy of my real life. I have been plagued with little inconvenient interruptions for the last couple of weeks, but hopefully things will settle down soon, so I can get my tale finished. In the previous update the Isis Awards were mentioned and for those of you that have checked out the site, you will have realized that as of yet, there's been no 2007 schedule posted for the awards. I have a little theory regarding why there’s been no out going communications from the Isis site. Discounting a Foothold situation, it’s possible that Senator Kinsey has entered the picture and is doing his best to delay the awards, or worse have the program shut down. Naturally it’ll be SG-1’s mission to stop the smarmy senator, using any means available, including seeking assistance from the lovable rogue Harry Maybourne. So if you see a message in the classifieds of your local newspaper, asking Hutch to contact Starsky, then you know what it’s about. Robin K has a different idea about the delay, so check out her update page for her possible scenario. Either way, we will be sure to pass along whatever Intel we receive.

Dec. 26, 2006

It's that time of year again!  On January 1st, the Isis Awards will open for nominations.  This is your chance to support your favorite authors and help them to showcase their work. We all like to read a good story, so whether it be us, your own work or a friend's from a neighboring planet, if you enjoyed a story, let others know by nominating the tale(s) for an Isis Award. Be sure to read all of the nominating rules carefully.

Dec. 17, 2006

G-day everybody! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything new…and I’m sorry to say that it will be even longer before my next tale, tentatively titled ‘Interruptions of Inconvenience’, is up and running. I have been a little distracted the last few weeks due to the utterly fantastic experience of traveling to New York to attend a Stargate convention…and just when I was coming off the natural high of actually meeting a stack of the Stargate stars, not to mention the wonderful fans, I got confirmation that I’ll be going to the Vancouver convention in March next year. So please forgive me for being off with the fairies…or rather off world with the Nox. However, I haven’t been totally idle. I have discovered that there were some significant grammatical errors that had eluded me in my previous tales, so I am in the process of fixing them up. Well, that’s about it, just wanted you to know that I haven’t accidentally opened a wormhole to the planet with the blackhole, distorting the flow of time around me.

Oh, and I’d like to thank Moonmistress for giving me the Blue Moon Award, although as you all know I can’t take all the credit for that story. ‘The Blonde, the Redhead and the Archaeologist(s)’ was very much a joint effort with my dear friend RobinK, so really the award belongs to both of us.

Dec. 9, 2006

Robin K. is THRILLED to announce that Renee has won a Blue Moon Award for The Blonde, the Redhead and the Archaeologist(s)!  CONGRATULATIONS, Renee!!!  See the award on Renee's story list page, and on the story introduction page.

Oct. 14, 2006

G-day! Well, the crossover story ‘The Blonde, the Redhead and the Archaeologist(s)’ with Robin K is ready to go! It’s amazing to me that an off the cuff comment a few months ago has resulted in an actual story! I have had such a whale of a time on this tale. It’s been a total crack up for both of us to have Casey and Annika, the resident smart asses of our tales, play off each other. I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Robin for making me laugh so hard my stomach hurt…it’s almost a shame that the story had to end! But end, it must…or perhaps I could say the end of this particular chapter…It’s not totally off the cards that our characters may meet up again in the future…um…past…er…present…dammit! Time travel gives me a headache! But you know what I mean. I hope you enjoy reading our tale as much we enjoyed writing it! Oh, incase you missed the warning on Robin’s page…serious laughing fits may ensue certain segments. (Don't forget, the stories 'end' differently!  Check them both out to get both endings!)

Sept. 27, 2006

G-day! Okay, all cultural mishaps have been fixed…I think…and Christmas Memories is up and running. I’d just like to say thank you soooo very much to those of you who took the time to let me know you enjoyed my tales. Your wonderful comments made this little Aussie all warm and fuzzy! Well…happy reading!

Sept. 23, 2006

G-day everybody! Just thought I’d let you know that my next tale ‘Christmas Memories’ should be up and ready pretty soon. I kinda hit a few cultural snags, which were discovered when Robin had a sneak peek at the story. (We both had way too much fun sorting out those little hiccups.) *Thanks Robin, by the way* Turns out that we Aussies have slightly different Christmas traditions to you guys over in the US, so I need to fix that up. With this in mind, I have decided to ‘Americanise’ my tales from here on in…whoops, guess I should have said ‘Americanize’. As you can see, it will take a bit of time for me to get used to the ‘odd’ spelling, but I’m always up for a challenge! <grin> Oh, and it was suggested that I warn people not to eat or drink while reading ‘Christmas Memories’. Apparently it’s quite funny in places, and I’d hate to be the cause of any spillages on your computers.

Sept. 5, 2006

Okay, folks, here it is!  Renee's corner of the web is up and running, and her first story, "A Vision From Next Door" is ready for your perusal.  Her second story will be up in the next day or so as well.  I'm sure you'll enjoy this story as much as I did!  I'll give you a hint...Annika is a hoot!!  More than likely Renee will leave updates and tidbits here for you as well...so stay tuned!!
